Many individuals entering shelters or rebuilding after difficult circumstances must leave most of their belongings behind. In those moments, basic personal care items are often not a priority, yet they can provide comfort and a connection to everyday routine.
The Opal Initiative provides Opal Care Pouches through shelter and nonprofit partnerships. Each pouch contains thoughtfully selected personal care items and is offered as an option to individuals navigating times of transition.

What is an Opal Care Pouch
The Opal Care Pouch is a reusable pouch containing personal care items intended to support comfort and routine. A small care card inside each pouch explains the meaning behind the Opal Initiative and includes space for volunteers to add a personal message of encouragement.
The pouch is offered as an option and is distributed through partner shelters and nonprofit organizations.
